Captain Gil says solar interference must have been low this week, so that could be why there’s lots of activity on the G.R.I.D. to share.
Check out what our fellow survivors are doing, then upload whatever you can to let us know where you are and how you’re joining the fight. Text, photos, even video share what you’ve learned with us, and we’ll share it with what’s left of the rest of the world.
STUMP TOWN SURVIVORS PORTLAND
From Tom in Portland: A message for “Alan” and one for us here at the Rock.
Alan,
Ignore those lights! We have set up a couple of honey pots to draw them at night. So far, this has allowed us to "contain" them to specific areas (at night). If you need to do this here is the trick; get a couple radios and a clapper. Then just clap when you want the stuff plugged in to turn on. We can't set up too many since we are low on solar recharging kits. Got the idea from MAKE mag!
Damn sub incident, you’re right we have to keep skeptical. Just don't fall into the LMOE (last man on earth) attitude!
We haven't heard from Dwayne either. Perhaps they had to go to ground or, well...
Falcon Rock Command,
We are a small group of survivors in Portland, Or. We have been trying to determine how to meet up with Alan (east side of the Willamette) but with the swarms camping the bridges, it looks like reaching him will be a challenge. Oh, and damn the hippies that voted for light rail in Portland! Z just swarms on the abandoned cars under the power lines. We are evaluating taking a sail boat and making for Falcon Rock but day to day survival tasks have us otherwise occupied at the moment.
I have attached a picture of helmet wearing Z in downtown Portland. He
was dragging some sacks down the sidewalk. Not sure what was in the
sacks since we are conserving ammo for SERE purposes only.
Have to log out now. Batteries have to be conserved since the weather is limiting solar recharge at this time.
Be safe,
Tom, Stump Town Survivors
Cody here Many thanks, Tom, and keep fighting! Unfortunately, the photo you describe didn’t come through. Bandwidth’s limited, I know, but try to resend next time the G.R.I.D. is up.
Alan, if you’re out there, contact Tom quick as you can sounds like you’re really close and we’ll do what we can to get you here. Same goes for “Dwayne.”
NEW ZEALAND
We needed more info re the situation in New Zealand and Thom came through for us. Remember, we still have orbital assets. Major Leonova on the ISS says her crew of six is good for another few months at least, and their Soyuz return capsules can bring down three at a time, just about anywhere on land. For now, the crew is giving us naked-eye reconnaissance reports whenever we can make contact. Plus, Falcon Rock has limited ability to retask the older surveillance satellites still operational. We’re working hard to make contact with the latest birds, too. Captain Gil says it’s just a matter of time before we can access realtime visual images of what’s going on around the Rock, or anywhere else for that matter.
Until then, here’s the latest from Thom in Dunedin, New Zealand. Anyone out there have answers for any of his questions?
Hey just been checking on the site, I think there may be some flaws in the G.R.I.D. as my last email didn't come through. I'm in the South Island in the city of Dunedin at the moment. Unfortunately it's a good 500 kilometres from Christchurch so I can't confirm the electric lights but I wouldn't be surprised. Considering most of our power is hydroelectric, and computer run, power should still be in most towns. What info I DO have indicates that there have been some very successful pushes in certain cities, though not amounting to complete eradication. The beauty of living in a country that only has 4 million people in it huh? Not as many to turn.
I have a few questions in case I need to move up to the North Island
(where more people are and hopefully more survivors are). Do we know how well they can swim? Probably the best bet for travel for me will be by sea, as most cities here have ports. Have you guys also considered that the things may be attracted to magnetic fields? This could possibly cause their telepathy. You know when you hold a piece of metal near a magnetic field for long enough, it develops a magnetic field of its own? Maybe by standing near these fields they can 'align' their brains so they're all in sync. Just a theory but something you may want to test.
As for my situation here, I'm holed up pretty well in the Meridian Mall. They've managed to break through into the lower levels but we've sealed off the stairs and are able to move into an open-air carpark, as well as a K-Mart. Food isn't as good as it could be but we've got some supplies from the local cafes. No guns here, the military has never been a huge presence and I think there's only one gun shop at the other end of town. Luckily the helmets haven't been used here yet so melee weapons are working if we ever need them. We move mostly across the roof tops.
Let me know any more developments.
Thom
Cody here Good question, Thom. We have no info on their swimming ability. But given the fact they don’t seem to need to breathe, maybe they don’t even have to swim just crawl along the bottom. So far islands seem to be safe, but we need more reports from people on the coast. Let us know!
In the meantime, thanks for the interesting thoughts re “aligning” their brains. Dr. Cole’s looking into it.
LONDON CALLING
Here’s a guy planning to move on London. Anyone else in the area, get us all the info you can and we’ll try to coordinate his efforts.
From James R in Weybrodge, England:
Excellent news about Hope you have all of ort congratulations over here in England! We stopped doing the bus runs recently, as we realised it was too risky if we got caught and the bus got wiped out. Instead we're just sticking to deserted places, so Internet connections will be sporadic from now on. The further out we go, the less generators seem to be working.
We are now located in Weybridge, a couple of miles away from our last location. We are thinking of moving in to do a survivor and supply sweep on London (most likely us hooking up with others atm). So far there are 15 of us. We will try to test this sense theory of yours sometime sounds like it works! Good job, and please, advise us on whether to proceed on our London raid, as we don't want it to be for nothing.
In contact, James R
Cody here We’ll pass on whatever we learn, James. Let us know the results of your tests!
PHILIPPINES
Here’s the latest from another island, which unfortunately, turned out to be not isolated enough.
From Brian in Fort Bonifacio, Philippines:
Cody,
My location is in Fort Bonifacio, Philippines, so far so good, got plenty of natural resources, experiencing power interruptions most of the time, we have a small community here. Mostly are from the military so I think that’s why we’re pretty much Alive today. The infection didn't spread as fast due to the geographical structures. It took time before the infection from one island jumped to another island, we knew what was coming, we had the advantage to prepare. Though we’re having a hard time getting supplies lately because they are wearing helmets! We thought that in no way the Pastor's influence would reach here, we were wrong.
Waiting for more instructions,
Bryan
Cody here Bryan: Here’re some questions from Dr. Cole. Have you noticed any unusual activity around St. Luke’s Medical Center? Or did you notice anything before it all happened? For some reason, she wants to know if there was any military activity either in the days before the collapse, or just after. She won’t say why she wants to know, but she says it’s important. Get back to us when you can.
SAN DIEGO
Finally, here’s an extensive report from Rob in San Diego. This is just the sort of report we need details, photos… whatever you can send, we can share!
From Rob in San Diego:
Cody! It’s Rob from San Diego. I just want to update you of my status. I have acquired a healthy group of survivors in the San Diego area. Here is the current list of people and their job (due to the lack of survivors, each person has more than one responsibility in the group):
Me (Rob): Main Leader/Coordinator (I went to military school, I have a good sense of leadership)
Alex: Field Supervisor (very organized)
Demi: Combat Specialist (took multiple Martial Arts in Japan)
Austin: Main Cook, Entertainer, Jack of all trades (can do funny voices, excellent chef, and he has had many hobbies such as hunting, fishing, a lot of survivor skills)
Zack: Entertainer, Scout (very funny, also very quiet)
Nick: Psychological Evaluator (very nice, good with people)
Keian: Weapons Specialist (has had the most experience with guns)
Megan: Navigator (good sense of direction)
Bree: Communications (just very experienced with communication)
The others are survivors that have little skill that can’t help us directly; i.e. children, elderly, injured, etc.
Just to let you know, we are all only civilians. The only experience in weapons is improvised experience and what Keian has taught us.
The moment the epidemic hit San Diego, the Navy ordered all personnel in San Diego to be quarantined at Miramar Air Base. Things did not go so well. No one could escape, it was supposed to keep them out, but it only trapped them in.
I have included in this email some visuals on the situation in San Diego.
Here is the description of each picture:
DCKAM001: This photo was taken in an abandoned building downtown. The building in this picture was home to a bloody battle where our side lost terribly. It is almost as if the pastor marked this spot to signify dominance?

DCKAM002: This is the California Tower. It is above the former Museum of Man in what was called Balboa Park. It seems they have painted the Pastor’s emblem on this as a calling card. Balboa Park is just riddled with them and so far it seems that the Museum of Man is 100% inaccessible because they seem to gather there in large numbers.
DCKAM005: This is an abandoned train in the mountains near Julian. It looks as if The Pastor’s emblem was painted on it when it crashed at the beginning of the epidemic. We are currently investigating the area.
My Field Supervisor, Alex, will inform you on the remaining security feed shots:
SDSECFEED043: This is surveillance camera footage that we recovered from a Collage Area apartment complex. We were not able to recover any supplies from here, but it also lacked them. This isn't to say that they weren’t there at all, quite the contrary, but not nearly the amount of the undead that we've encountered in areas marked by the Pastor. While our studies are as of yet inconclusive, there may be a link between the influence of the Pastor in an area and the amount of infected people there.
SDCOASTFEED056: This is a picture from a videotape that was recovered from the corpse of a bitten man, who subsequently committed suicide. The video contained the exploits of the man's voyage out at sea, which included hearing about the outbreak. He had prepared for a long voyage, but not that long, so, when he ran low on fuel and supplies, he was forced to land on a beach in La Jolla, where the man was caught off-guard by one of them, bitten, and after killing it, recorded his final thoughts. Apparently he was headed for San Francisco.

Also, although we were out of film when we experienced this, we did see them lined up along power lines. And while we were presented with this opportunity, I decided to conduct a few experiments.
I found that, should they be felled while standing along a power line, it will make every attempt to fall in the direction it was facing. The same is true for whatever manner we brought them to the ground; whether it was by destroying the legs, blowing them up, or shooting them in the head, they all tried to face the same direction. We also found that, if it is near a power line, but not directly under it when it destroyed, it will attempt to face the line of its dead comrades.
Alex
That about wraps this up. Although we do request that being as you are the most connected safe-house, we would like to know if anyone in our area has contacted you.
We have only a little bit of room here in this part of San Diego, but we never turn anyone down.
One last thing, the Pastor has a striking similarity to the old-time actor John Billingsley. Relative maybe?
The G.R.I.D. is acting up. Bree is saying it could go down any second.
Good Luck,
Rob Cozby and Survivors
Cody here Rob, the colonel has approved a plan by Captain Gil and Dr. Cole to send current through some nearby powerlines, to see how that affects the ones converging on the Rock. Could take a couple of weeks to set up, but we’ll let you know what happens.
Unfortunately, haven’t heard from anyone else in or near San Diego. Don’t be disheartened, though. Even survivors who could find G.R.I.D. access might not have any reason to think that a version of the Internet is still online. It’s a good bet that there are a lot more of us out there than we think.
Re the Pastor resembling some actor, makes me wish this was just a television show instead of reality. I’d watch rather watch it than live it.
That’s the report for this week. With your help and your reports, there’ll be lots more to come, until the day we win!
We’ll talk again.
